Quizzes

This is the basic note names and values quiz for the staff.  Use this to see how much you already know about music.  A few notes about the quiz:

• It’s best to take the quiz without using any aid from other sources.  This way, you have an accurate idea of what courses you should take, rather than whether or not you can “game the system”.
• While the quiz is not timed, it’s important to remember that while you’re playing music, it’s vital that you can identify notes on sight, rather than having to figure out what the note is before you move on.
• Enjoy the process.  This quiz is here simply to help you find out what you want to learn and what you already know.  We’ve broken them into short, 15-20 question quizzes so you can tackle each one in a minute or two.
• Use the score at the end of the quiz to help you figure out where you need to learn and what you already know.  It’s by no means a comprehensive test of all the music you will ever need to know.
• We’ll be adding evaluations to the end of each course to help you determine if you have a good handle of the information.
